imagine the still surface
of a pond. beautifully still.
a disturbance happens. a wave of low frequency moves forth.
the wave hits a rock. new wavelets of higher frequency propagate further.
they encounter more rocks, smaller wavelets, many more, frequency increases.
propagation keeps happening. further and further. more differentiation, but all arisen from that one large low frequency wave.
time goes on.
then the disturbances stop.
the surface of the pond is still again. beautiful as ever.
